Upcoming Donor Trip to Greece
Books & Benches: Summer 2026 Donor Trip to Diavolitsi
Building Cultural Connections.
PhilotimoNOW facilitated a Global Experiential Learning trip to Diavolitsi, Greece, in 2024, connecting local Greek dancers with Shenandoah University dance students through a shared cultural and academic learning experience.
To celebrate the culmination of PhilotimoNOW’s Books & Benches Project, we are thrilled to announce our first-ever PhilotimoNOW Donor Trip, to Diavolitsi, June 17–21, 2026. Donors will participate in the sacred blessing of the Literacy Garden, officiated by Father Costas of St. Panteleimon.
This special journey will bring donors to Diavolitsi, where they will have the unique opportunity to meet Mayor Olga Bournai and witness firsthand the impact of PhilotimoNOW’s literacy initiatives. Highlights include visits to the Diavolitsi Primary School, the Desyllas Little Free Library Café, and the future site of the Diavolitsi Community Literacy and Cultural Arts Center.
Beyond the projects themselves, donors will experience the rich history, culture, and natural beauty of the region. The itinerary includes a visit to ancient Messini, an olive tasting tour, a stop at the oldest olive tree in Greece, and a guided tour of the historic city of Kalamata. Guests will enjoy their stay along the crystal-blue beaches of Kalo Nero, offering time for reflection, connection, and celebration.
This trip is more than travel—it is a meaningful opportunity to connect with the community PhilotimoNOW serves, celebrate shared accomplishments, and honor the spirit of philotimo that makes this work possible.
